One significant phenomenon that is seen in many countries is the fact that a lot of women and men prefer not to have any children at a young age. There are a few reasons behind this social change of attitude, and it affects societies in diverse ways.
To start with the reasons, talking of the evolution of personal beliefs is important. People have realized that when they get to their 20s or early 30s, having children does not have to essentially be their first priority. Lots of individuals prioritize their education, career prospects, personal growth, or even traveling around the globe when they are at this stage of their lives. Secondly, the more educated people become, the more they prefer to become parents when they will have already maintained a sustainable situation, economically, mentally, and spiritually. Some plan financially for having a baby, as they save up for his expenses, while others prefer to take on the responsibility of another human being when they are mentally ready, as they do not want to repeat their naive parents’ mistakes.
However, this development has its influences on societies. On one hand one benefit that should be noticed is when parents are experienced and knowledgeable about a child’s needs, the children are brought up well with the least amount of trauma. This can indirectly lead the society to have a better future. But on the other hand, a negative impact is that when those adolescents are at school, their parents are likely to be in their 50s or late 40s. This age gap can cause conflicts and later misunderstandings.
In conclusion, I believe this development has been positive as adults have become more self-aware and conscious of the great responsibility of being a parent.
