In an increasingly interconnected world, there might be differing sights in viewing both youngsters and elderly people. While in some countries elderly people are seen as a highly respected person as they have sailed across their lives, others believe that young ages are more valuable as they are the next generations who have power in doing the work given and can continue the life’s norm of their ancestors. In my perspective, both views are acceptable as they both are human beings and they should be treated well. I will discuss both views as well as a reasoned conclusion.
On the one hand, old people are highly respected because respecting them has been a well-structured norm in the society to respect elderly as they are more advanced individuals and have more understanding about life than youngsters. Young ages, who still do not have adequate experience in doing life, can learn from them in order to live wisely in this world. When the youngsters accept all the advice that has been given by old people, they are supposed to be more independent in exploring the world. Therefore, they have to respect elderly as it encourages them to get that knowledge. For example, most of the countries in Southeast Asia rely on this view since it is part of their norm to teach next generations about life.
On the other hand, In some countries, young people are considered to be more valuable because they have fresh power to account for a project or work they might accept from elderly. This reason is the best way to express how important the existence of the youngsters in society is, therefore, all the traditions, habits, and norms can be continued by the young ages. As a result, they can maintain their ancestors’ culture. In addition, youngsters, especially in a conservative culture or even some in modern atmospheres, can be an individual who takes care of the elderly when they are old. Therefore, young people are considered as valuable people in society.
To sum up, while elderly are important figures as they have more knowledge in making youngsters more wise, the existence of young ages should not be overlooked as they are an individual who can continue the life of elderly. In this world, both parties should respect each other in order to create a better place to live
