In contemporary society, traditional retail stores are being replaced by internet shopping. From my perspective, this phenomenon brings both benefits and drawbacks for personal and public development.
On the one hand, consumers significantly benefit from online shopping. Firstly, it has a positive impact on personal time organization and management. Users can save valuable time due to its convenience while eliminating commuting time. For example, instead of going to shops and waiting in a queue, people can easily shop during their break at work or from the comfort of their home. Secondly, internet shopping improves the quality and variety of products. Consumers have access to a much wider range of goods compared to traditional retail shops, which are limited by physical space constraints. E-commerce provides users with an extensive selection of items, including international brands that were previously unavailable locally, offering a wide range of options at reasonable prices.
On the other hand, there are some disadvantages related to online retail. Initially, it negatively affects mental health. Digital shopping can lead to addictive behavior as people have easy access to shopping platforms. With constant promotional notifications and flash sales, numerous people, especially the young, may fall into the trap of excessive buying and face financial difficulties. Moreover, internet shopping has a negative impact on public development. Traditional retail faces challenges due to the rise of e-commerce. Since online platforms require fewer employees than traditional stores, a significant number of traditional retail workers are losing their jobs. This is evident in the increasing number of vacant shops in commercial centers over time.
In conclusion, online shopping enhances product accessibility but also leads to shopping addiction and retail job losses. Thus, consumers should carefully decide between using e-commerce or going to traditional shops.
