In some regions, the tendency to buy excessively number of items has been on the rise. The obsession in consumerism due to economic growth in the countries itself, and influence by social media platforms. This issue can be addressed by promoting awareness of environmental impact and support sustainable businesses.

The improvement of social economic in certain countries among the causes of obsession on the consumerism. The economic growth increases the income and improve the buying power among people. The improvement in social economics lead people to shop more. For example, people with higher income have tendency to spend more money for luxury items. Furthermore, social media and status also lead to the obsession on buying items more. Many people had been influenced by social media, especially their idol which they always promote their luxury lifestyles. This influences cause people to compare themselves with others and desire more. For instance, many young people like to wear expensive items so that they can be like their favourite idols.

To address this issue, awareness needs to be promoted on environmental impact. We need to educate people about the environmental costs of overconsumption, which can cause pollutions, waste, and resource depletion. For example, many tonnes of waste are generated annually, due to excessive consumer habits or the carbon footprint of fast fashion. In addition, this issue can be reduced by supporting sustainable businesses. The government and people should support and encourage sustainable businesses which offer eco friendly products, repair services, and recycling programs to reduce the cycle of overconsumption. For instance, fashion brand initiative like customer will get discount coupons if they join recycling old clothes program. This program helps to encourage people to donate their old clothes and reduce the pollutions and waste.

In conclusion, the growing obsession with consumerism in some countries is driven by increase in social economic, and social media and status influences. To address this issue, promote awareness on environmental issues should be taken and support sustainable businesses. By taking these steps, individuals and governments can work together to build a society that value sustainability over materialism.
