Private transportations has been popularized by amazing engineering from previous century causing mass manufacture of private cars. Some argue that, due to traffic caused by private cars, busy cities should prohibit usage of private cars from certain city centers. Other advocate against this notion and maintain their position against any prohibition of private cars. In this essay, I will draw attention to both the merits and demerits associated with banning private cars from particular locations and why explain my assessment against this notion.
On one side, banning cars provides the urban planners to inject more public transports such as buses and metro trains which are already persistent in the most busy cities of the world. This approach has seen reduction of traffic and improved air quality. Moreover, less private vehicle also translates into less carbon footprint and fuel usages. Cities such as Netherlands, Germany, London also uses bike renting services, which are excellent alternatives of private cars and has almost no carbon footprint. Thus this decision has been known for improved environmental and traffic conditions.
On the other side, banning private cars also poses threats for special peoples. Most of the special people are taken care of their family members; furthermore, it is more convenient for the care taker to use private vehicle for their travel. Additionally, private cars may also be efficient for routes that public transports cannot cover. For example, if the whole family is leaving for work, the members needs to go to at specific locations where private cars is a better alternative than public transport. On top of that, banning private cars may also can lead to calamities in emergency situations.
In conclusion, banning private cars may offer merits for improved air quality, better carbon economy; however, I believe the demerits outweigh the notion. I also think improved urban planning of routes can easily prevent such law enforcement.
