Private cars are one of the major factors of air pollution and climate change, thus, many countries are banning using them in city centres. While I completely agree with the idea that most countries should also restrict the use of private cars, I believe that this system is both good for the environment and our health as it mitigates people’s carbon footprints.
There are several reasons why we should have personal cars restricted. Firstly, there is evidence to support the idea that this system improves the quality of air in that area, making the population healthy. Countries such as Switzerland, where private cars are not allowed to be used in certain parts of it, regularly top international ecosystem tables with its pure air and green nature. Secondly, this policy also affects the economy of the countries since people spend less on buying cars and their repairing as they must use public transport most of the time. Finally, it is known that using public transport makes our lives healthier as we have no other out than walking to a station on foot since public transport only commutes between limited areas. In other words, it makes people have a healthy lifestyle.
In my opinion, I agree that most cities should adopt this system. However, before applying this policy, they should make public transportation more convenient to use by reducing their prices and improving their facilities. For example, Switzerland had begun using transports that are eco-friendly with cheap prices and facilities before it set this law.
In conclusion, there are good reasons why it can be argued that most cities should adopt this rule, considering its advantageous impacts on our health and nature.
