It has become common among teenagers to work at part-time jobs as well as studying at school simultaneously. While, there might be some advantages of starting early career, I firmly believe that there are more disadvantages that could affect one’s academic performance.
On the one hand, delaying early career during schooling period comes with its fair share of advantages. One of primary benefits of this would be the opportunity to devote all focus and time to their studies which play crucial role in further development of them. As combining work and studies would definitely have effects on their academic performance along with some mental health problems. Yet, with deep dedication and discipline, students are likely to achieve more in the future rather than prioritizing career at quite young age. In fact, the amount of salary they receive from employers is often negligible.
On the other hand, combining work and school have more potential drawbacks for teens. Firstly, the work whether it is part-time or full-time is great distracting factor if mixed with studies. Students usually struggle with time management to accomplish home assignments or other academic tasks that are given at school. Moreover, they are most likely to suffer from sleep deprivation which in long run will have impact on cognitive functions. Losing interest to study is another reason for not to recruiting teenagers at workplaces. As they start earning money, they began to chase their materialistic goals such as high-end clothes, smartphones or vehicles which are very trendy to have among them. However, employers may benefit from young, naïve and inexperienced workforce, but for society having too many people not willing to study is real danger.
In conclusion, I believe that discouraging teenagers from working at such young age would be a better decision rather than allowing them to work as it would likely to bring some troubles in one’s future life such distraction and loss of interest to study.
