It is observed that the recruitment of police force is decreasing in many countries. This could be due to lack of interest among the youngsters due to many reasons. These reasons and the effects they cause to the society will be discussed in the upcoming paragraphs.
To begin, the main reason for less participation in the police force is the risk involved. A police officer who is on duty has to face many risks. They may include the death of the person while a catching a theif and there is also a huge amount of stress from their upper authorities. For instance, if there is a war declared between two countries then the most affected ones are the police officers as their duty is to protect the general public. Furthermore, the financial stability of an officer can be one of the reason for youngsters not choosing police as their professions.
The decline in number of police officers have a huge impact on the society. Criminals may find it a good chance to resume their crimes such as thefting, murders, harassments etcetera and they would be roaming freely in the society. This would make people feel more insecure and the crime rates in the society may increase rapidly. The insecurity among the can lead to questioning the government.
To sum up, the interest of teenagers, who are considered to be future of society, has gradually decreased in becoming a police officer. Government should take measures in improving the situation such as providing high incomes, mental support and additional incentives in order to support more individuals to join the police.
