In some parts of the world, there are more and more parents deciding home schooling for their kids. From my point of view, there is more harm than good.
On the one hand, the biggest impact on the children who are decided home school is expenses. Some regions far from the city center, people not only do not have to spend much on transportation, but they also save a lot of time. Besides, many families can cut down on tuition costs. For instance, in my country, the students have to pay school fees every year so studying at home gives them a chance to reduce expenses. Another advantage is that the children can have freedom to develop the fields that they feel interested. It is obvious that these kids are able to ease the lessons which may be not their strengths and focus on their potentials.
On second thought, I believe that the negative aspects of homeschooling are far greater. The first drawback is that the children do not have opportunities to meet their friends. This means that they have fewer chances to share knowledge or gain experiences. Social relationship not only helps them learn better, feel relaxed but also can support them in the future such as finding a job. Additionally, computer are the main tool for studying at home. However, many experts have shown that blue light from screens when exposed to for a long time has a great impact on both the physical and metal health of students. To illustrate, according to VietNam article reported, currently a number of children with myopia has increased significantly compared to five years ago. The main reason is that the habit of using tech devices for long periods and in the wrong way.
To sum up, despite choosing home education brings several positive aspects for students, it can also has more negative aspects for children’s studies and their health in the future.
