Positive And Negative

Band 6+: In some countries today, children are taught from a young age that competition is important and that winning is everything. Is this a positive or a negative development?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In several nations, children are taught from an early age that they can only achieve success if they win all the competitions throughout their lives. I believe this is a negative development because children can become selfish in order to win all the competitions and pressure themselves to gain victory in all aspects of their lives.

To begin with, to be victorious in all the competition children can destroy the harmony of the competition and they can also rule out the aspect of fair play. They will start believing their opponents as their enemies, and this can lead children to manipulate their rivals to win the competition. Moreover, if they win any competition then they can become overconfident and they can also lose their focus to achieve more success. For example, In football, in 2021, Barcelona player Ansu Fati’ outscored every opponent in his initial games in the league. However, in order to gain more fame, he started taking drugs to enhance his performance, and when the football federation found dopamine from his tests; then he got banned from football for two years.

Furthermore, sometimes losing in your life helps a person to regain his/her self-confidence and it also increases the spirits of an individual to perform better in the next challenge in their life. Also, parents and teachers force their learners to always win in every competition and, if he/she is unable to perform well in that competition; then the child can feel pressure and can take miserable steps which can cause damage to their health. For instance, In India, most parents encourage their children to take admission in IIT college, so that they can attain a better job in their life. Nevertheless, if a child is unable to obtain a better score to gain admission to that college then they feel stress and a lot of students also commit suicide because they cannot meet the dreams of their parents.

In conclusion, Winning is not an important attribute of life, because in order to attain victory children can feel jealous and, they can also lead themselves into stress which can cause many serious health problems.

The persistent emphasis […]

Wealthy nations should assist poorer countries with humanitarian relief during natural disasters. Do you agree or disagree?

Natural disasters can overwhelm the emergency systems of low-income countries within hours, leaving governments unable to provide sufficient food, shelter, medical care and rescue services. I strongly agree that wealthier nations should offer humanitarian assistance in such circumstances because they possess greater resources and because preventing avoidable suffering is a shared international responsibility. The most […]
