There are differing opinion about the benifits of having older population. There are those who think that older people bring some issues, while others believe that they can have many benifits not only for business but also for government and society. However, I believe that the government should have a policy to balance the number of the young and ageing population to ensure enough labour.
One of the reasons why some people think that ageing population can cause many problems is because many business sectors will lack of young labour to run their works. If countries have less and less young people, it cannot avoid that they won’t have workers to replace retired employees. This can cause economic system as a whole in the lone run. Besides that, the government will waste a money for providing healthcare for elderly people that have increased continuelly. Therefore, they will have limited budget to allocate to others sectors.
However, other people believe that it is valuable to have ageing population because they have solid knowledge and experiences to support businesses and the government. It is almost impossible to manage businesses or develop a country if lack of potential citizens. Older people can contribute their knowledge and skills to improve many policies for making better quality of live. In contrast, young people might not have enough knowledge to handle many complex issues in the businesses or the government contexts.
Although both stances are reasonable, I believe that it would be efficient to have both young and elderly people to contribute to a country’s development. The reason is that different generations have their own expertises and knowledge that can work together. Therefore, the government should have policies how to balance the number of their citizen in order to ensure sufficient labours and potential human resources.
In conclusion, both viewpoints have their own benefits, but I maintain that a mix of young adults and elderly people will have greatest impacts on most of the sectors because their can exchange different ideas and experience to improve businesses and society.
