Traditional events and celebrations are the bedstone of civilization. However, nowadays in some countries, the importance of these festivals is reducing. This could cause several problems and we should find possible solutions for dealing with them. In this essay, I will explore problems and describe the available approaches for tackling this matter.
The first problem that may appear after the vanishment of festivals is cultural loss. In this condition, new generations have less connection with their parents and ancestors. This may cause a generation gap between youngsters and the elderly. The other problem is the appearance or increase of antisocial behaviors among people. Since the festivals are places for hanging out and socialization, events disappearing could affect communication and reduce reunions among people.
Media has an important role in fighting this problem as well as the maintenance of culture in societies. The advertisements and encouragement of families to celebrate the traditions, in addition to their participation in festivals, are imperative for dealing with the problem. The second approach is the education of youngsters in the schools. Education of teenagers has an important role in the survival and transfer of traditional cultures to the next generation.
It could be concluded that the culture loss and increase of antisocial behaviors are the major problems, caused by festivals disappearing in the societies. The media and correct education could attenuate the damages caused by this problem.
