Each of societies has its own cultural patterns and traditions that can be reflected in the traditional festivals and celebrations. But there is a new trend over the world that these ceremonies and festivals has begun to disappear. In this essay, I will try to mention my opinions about which problems this trend may lead to and which measures can be taken in order to prevent this trend.
First of all, it is undeniable that the historical background and moral values of each nation can be seen in their traditional festivals and ceremonies which play a great role in transmitting them to the next generations. By this, I mean if the trend regarding disappearing of traditional events continues, the next generations will not be aware of their ancestors’ living conditions, moral values, etc. which will lead to the loss of valuable historical patterns. For example, Novruz is one of the traditional holidays that is held in Azerbaijan and a few other Turkish countries. This holiday gives us the information about our ancestors’ religious thoughts and customs, such as worship to flame, and celestial objects.
Despite the current trend that happens in some part of the world, I believe that there are some ways to counter it. For instance, at schools and universities, the subjects relating to the history of the traditional holidays can be added the curriculum. Additionally, governments should pay special attention in celebrating these festivals properly, in the each part of country. So as a result of these measures the interest can be created in people and especially in children.
In conclusion, although the disappearance of traditional festivals and holidays may lead to some problems, such as loss of some parts of nations’ history, I believe that there are enough ways to tackle this situation.
