Medicine has great achievements year on year, which are creating vaccines to avoid COVID, and working to find a cure for cancer. Many people across the world, however, still face death from easily avoidable illnesses. In this essay, I will discuss why this might be the case and how this problem can be alleviated.
The cause for the death from these diseases is the lack of awareness of people. In other words, they do not have enough knowledge and believe in their beliefs, which are revealed by their religions or culture. Despite the fact that humanity prevents a lot of diseases by vaccinating children, many parents still do not allow their children to be vaccinated. It is because they think that the government is trying to poison them. For example, in Saharan Africa, residents rejected vaccinations because of their awareness, which was based on their beliefs, despite the high level of childrens’ death from tuberculosis.
To resolve the case around the death from easily preventable illnesses, a major public campaign and mandatory vaccination systems are required. A good start would be to explain to people what the danger is and how to be protected. This can be done via flyers delivered to each home, advertising on television and consulting by physicians. Compulsory vaccination policy is another effective solution. Because it is controlled by the government to decrease the level of death and protect the health of residents. For example, government- mandated vaccination helped to avoid COVID virus in 2019 and decreased the number of diseases’ victims.
To conclude, lack of knowledge is the main factor of preventable deaths. Awareness public campaigns and mandatory vaccination are essential steps in safeguarding peoples’ health.
