In recent centuries, medicine has achieved major breakthroughs, but still, some common illnesses that can be easily treated cause death for some people. This is due to a lack of awareness, which can be solved by spreading accurate information.
These common diseases cause death due to a lack of awareness among people. Local villagers who are not educated don’t understand the symptoms of a disease, and when they realize that something is wrong, it is often too late. Furthermore, some people try to treat their illness with any medicine available, which further worsens their condition. For instance, one of my uncle’s employees suffered a major heart attack, but he didn’t visit a hospital, mistaking the pain for gastric discomfort. He spent the night at home and died in the morning.
This issue can only be tackled if accurate information is given to people. The government can play its part by running a campaign through ads on TV, which will show the symptoms of diseases and what to do in emergencies. Moreover, these campaigns can be extended by posting posters and billboards in public places such as railway stations. For example, in my hometown, Dholakpur, a show is hosted every month where everyone is invited, and the host speaks about different illnesses like heart attacks and TB.
In conclusion, a lack of awareness sometimes overshadows medical advancements, leading to deaths from common diseases. However, this can be overcome if people are educated about health and disease prevention.
