It is true that due to the technological advancement, longevity is increasing in industrialized nations. I personally believe, although there will undoubtedly be some negative consequences of this trend, societies can takes steps to mitigate the potential problems.
There could a range of difficulties associated with rising life expectancy. Changing demographic position can be occured, which means the population of old people climb, while that of the youth decrease. If this trend heppen, the taxasion burdon on young citizens can be increased, so that, the pension of elderly would be provided. Take Scandinavian countries as an example, being lower than senior citizens, young people are charged with higher taxes. Moreover, there could be more diseases related to ageing. These are challenging situations result in living longer.
Talking about the effectual measures that can be taken to bring about positive changes, would be to curb the impacts. This should be started with incentivizing families with multiple children by rewarding, which the best encouragement would be through government initiatives. As a consequence, the birth rate would be risen. Also, young professionals such as engineers, doctors, and so on should be encouraged to enter the country through immigration, which can be reciprocal support as they can contribute to the economy prosperity. At the same time, allocating more money on health care, government can tackle the effects of rising ailments. If illnesses such as Diabete diagnoses soon, the impacts of that like amputation of fingers and legs will be decreased.
In conclusion, even though mentioned problems associated with living longer, governments can remedy the situation. I believe, increasing fertility, entering young workforce, and improving health system are steps in the right direction.
