It has been predicted that it will be less likely for people to buy printed books or newspapers in the future, as they believe that e-books will be widely available at no cost. Personally, I completely disagree with this opinion because printed books have had a significant role in our lives and will continue to do so in the future.
On the other hand, some people may think that using e-books continuously will not harm their health, such as their eyes and brain, unlike constantly using mobile devices which can have negative effects on the eyes. Especially when it comes to reading, as people usually spend at least half an hour reading. Additionally, studies have shown that excessive use of electronic devices can be harmful to brain functions like concentration and imagination. E-books and online media also have advantages such as being accessible everywhere without taking up physical space, and finding a book is much easier than searching through numerous libraries.
Printed books play a significant role in our lives, especially among book lovers who truly appreciate the value of printed or handmade books. Being a book lover myself, I can provide valuable insights about printed books. Firstly, printed books can enhance brain function for both young and older individuals, improving memory and stimulating imagination, allowing readers to immerse themselves in the book. Another benefit of physical books is that they can be personalized with highlights and notes. True book lovers view books differently, recognizing that from ancient times, books have been written continuously, with each page reflecting the era and sources used. Additionally, books evoke emotions and encourage deeper thinking about the story simply by holding the book, without even opening it. For future generations, collecting historical or sentimental books can be meaningful for their children or for sharing with others.
In conclusion, I argue that although e-books may be convenient and accessible, they cannot provide the same deep emotional and intellectual connection that printed books offer.
