In the last ten years, there has been an enormous increase in the level of global air travel and the reasons for it range from heavy development in tourism to increased human exposure to different cultures and society with the help of global networking platforms. While some people consider it to be a negative development, I personally think that it is a positive change owing to financial gains and global recognition countries getting.
Tourism has generally developed well in previous decade, which has been one of the main reasons for the great increase in global air travel. With the help of it, people can easily travel from A point to B point (points being countries), and possibly travel several times because of how easy and cheap it has got, which in turn increases the number of the global flights. A recent survey, done globally, showed that the high proportion of global flights are taken for travelling purposes rather than business. This has led to financial gains and it is the reason I think the increased number of flights is a positive development.
Talking of other factors, human exposure to variety of other cultures, with the global networking platforms being the main reason, has also triggered people to travel to other countries (increasing the number of flights taken). If a person finds out that there is a one-of-a-kind culture or society while using platforms like YouTube, it is highly likely that they want to explore more about it by going there. For instance, a recent social media poll, dedicated to explore the reasons for people travelling to other countries, found that people mostly travel to learn new cultures. As a result, countries are being recognized worldwide, something that I consider positive.
To sum up, factors like heavily-developed tourism and human exposure to other cultures, have been the main reason for increased level of global air travel, and I consider it to be positive due to the fact that it has brought financial gains and global recognition to the countries.
