Use of airways has been increased significantly compared to the growth of other means of transportaion around the globe. I think, traveling longer destinations within the shortest time along with increased demand of import and export has contributed to this trend. According to me, it is indeed a good thing as this trend brings the prices lower due to high competiton.
Firstly, as world is becoming fast paced, people want to spend less time traveling and more time on the actal tasks after reaching at the destination. Choosing to fly over other travel options can save time from a few hours to days. For example, ships can take several days to move a person from one country to another, given there is a commercial route available. This can be achieved by an airplane in few hours including the bording time.
Futhermore, a trend has been seen that people are exploring different parts of the world in means of study, for business purpose or a permanent settlement. This has not only increased the global travel but also affected the need for import – export of goods. This is because individuals staying abroad demand a lot of stuff, whether it be food, cloths or region specific artifects, from their home countries.
I believe that this trend has contributed in an overall positive manner making the air travel more affordable and pocket friendly. Reason behind this could be price cuts by the respective airlines to cope with competitoin. This could be experenced during Christmas when many people heading back home and airlines are lowering the fare prices and providing holiday offers to attract customer to choose their services.
In conclusoin, I believe, to cut longer distance and save the time to be more productive and to fulfill the need of exchange of good around the world are the reason for increased use of planes to travel globaly. I look at this trend in a positive way as it often brings the prices lower and make the international travel possible for people with tight budget.
