In recent years, the rapid development of the Internet has made it possible for people to shop, work, and communicate entirely online without meeting others face to face. Although this change is especially helpful for people with disabilities, I believe it is generally a negative trend because it can have harmful effects on society.
One of the biggest advantages of working online and living without face-to-face contact is convenience. People can save a considerable amount of time and energy by shopping or working from home instead of going outside. For instance, many employees no longer have to spend several hours travelling to and from work every day. This can give them more time for their families, hobbies, or rest. In addition, online work often provides greater flexibility, which helps people manage their professional and personal responsibilities more easily. Because of this, many individuals are able to organise their daily tasks more effectively and work more efficiently.
However, I believe these benefits are outweighed by the disadvantages of reduced face-to-face communication. When people spend most of their time online, they have fewer chances to interact with others in real life. Over time, this can make them feel lonely and less confident in social situations. Relationships with family members, friends, and colleagues may also become weaker because online communication cannot fully replace direct human interaction. For example, a person who works from home and communicates mainly through messages or video calls may gradually lose close connections with others and start to feel isolated from the community.
