While some, being the bastions of faithfulness that they are, argue it should be regarded as a priority, others tend to see the experience of betrayal as a crucial milestone to cross in a relationship. Although the possession of the quality of loyalty has its merits, I personally believe that suffering treachery, at least, once in life can play a more useful role in the long term.
On the one hand, some share the view that dedication is paramount due to several reasons. Firstly, reliability between partners can be fortified by commitment and trust held by them for each other. Being fully aware of how trustworthy each one of them truly is, they will be able to receive the unanimous support of one another, and there will be no room left for struggles in dealing with possible mishaps bound to occur in a relationship; having the capacity for loyalty, thus, ensures mutual assistance expected from both sides of it. Secondly, undergoing the harsh process of having to cope with betrayal might well act as the undoing of laboriously forged bonds between particular individuals. The oscillations between whether or not a friend is worthy of being trusted ever again being augmented, people may find themselves virtually impotent against cultivating any further connections out of fear of being thwarted in an attempt to feel intimate with others again. Heartbroken and burdened with trust issues and a sense of insecurity mingled together, they may as well contemplate turning to brain chemistry-altering drugs or medications of a similar sort for solace and wander astray from society whatsoever.
I, on the other hand, candidly support those who lean towards the idea of being subjected to deceitfulness molding a person into a more mature version of themselves. This idea seems appealing to men and women primarily because they inevitably face the experience of having to confine the circle of their friends to a more limited number. Because pursuing an endeavor to strengthen bonds or befriend people requires a substantial amount of time, some might find growing fatigue overcoming them once the realization of how much constant vigilance or care it takes them to allocate it all for each one of their acquaintances sets in, and it becomes apparent the resort to having them shrunk is the only solution in the light of duties they may need to be occupied with as well; it is for this very reason that the risk of turning traitor is most probable as no-one this distant will falter before misleading them. This, in turn, can function as a lesson to be more selective in the choice of friends. Not only does betrayal teach us not to be so trusting towards others, but it also highlights the one aspect of devotion that stunts the personal growth of people. When vowing loyalty to someone, many fail to stay alert to the fact that it can grow to manifest itself as blind loyalty — that is trying to ingratiate themselves with others at every available opportunity, willingly conforming to their dominance or catering to their sudden whims even blindfolded — and eventually cause a relationship to reach an impasse. Stagnation of such kind enabling one partner to exploit their possibly long-coveted power to do as they please and transparency or free will of the other one being eroded by this abuse, it is only expected that the unreciprocated loyalty will fester unless mended in time, with the relationship sure to perish in the void of mutualism displayed in it.
In conclusion, while the demonstration of commitment can lead to full endorsement and avoidance of the mourning of heartbreak, I am still in favor of a more severe yet educational approach of enduring trickery for the sake of tighter and more lasting ties and calling a halt to blind devotion that can, otherwise, stall a relationship’s progress instead.
