In recent times, people are of the view that humans do not need to use food or products from animal sources such as clothing or medicine. This essay agrees with the view point because excessive consumption of animal product predisposes us to a lot of health issues and there are alternative ways to produce clothing and medicine.
The world these days is faced with a lot of health issues such as obesity, renal disease, cardiovascular diseases and cancer as a result of excessive consumptions of meat and other animal products. Animal products are a rich source of protein and other vitamins, but consuming it in excess can also be a source of harm to the body. There are a lot of plant and vegetables that contain equal amount of protein and vitamins which can serve as an excellent replacement to animal delicacy. Example of such plant food sources are mushrooms, beans, grains and nuts.
Furthermore, health care practitioners are advocating for the use of herbs in the production of medicine. Opium Poppy, which is also sourced from plant is used for the production of morphine, a potent analgesic.
The slaughtering of animals for their fur to be used in the manufacturing of clothes should be discouraged. Such practice is leading to the extinction of other exotic animals. Cotton and silk, which is also a derivative of plant, are alternatives for the use of fur in the production of clothes.
In conclusion, the use of plant sources should be encouraged in the manufacturing of clothes and for the use as food. This will help preserve the lives of both rare and common livestock available in the system.
