Positive And Negative

Band 6+: In the past, people lived in the same place in their life. However, it is common that now people change their place and often live in different places during their life. What are the reasons for this? Is it a positive or negative development?

For many years, individuals used to live in the same accommodation for the rest of their lives, however, nowadays, people have started to change their living places more often. One of the main reasons for that might be continuously changing home designs, and this is a positive development since residents can choose the most comfortable place to live.

In today’s fast-paced world, styles of accommodations and renovation designs are changing quickly. With those changes, people’s tastes and preferences in house and flat designs are changing too. With trends, individuals stop liking their places, finding them no more interesting or beautiful and finally decide to move out. From my own experience, despite the fact that I had been living in a flat with my family for only 2-3 years, my mom was willing to move to another house because she was irritated by old mouldings on the walls, non-stylish wooden doors and boring kitchen set. As a result, we have moved to another flat with modern design and new garniture.

Changing different places is regarded as a positive development, since people can determine their best choice and live in convenient conditions. By moving several times, people start to investigate the details such as district, floor, price and surrounding areas that should be considered when choosing new places. Consequently, they can choose a place that would be the most comfortable for themselves. For example, people who often change their homes, with time learn which one is more practical, at which location they should buy next accommodation for their facilities, and which price is better for them. Eventually they have much more experience than those who live in one place, and can choose where they would want to live with the best conditions.

In conclusion, the major factor which affects individuals to move out is the change in preferences, and this is a positive development because people have the ability to live in the most comfortable place.
