Nowadays, the use of technology for education is getting a popular opinion. Technological innovation is immersed in every other classroom. While this change brings numerous benefits, it also has potential drawbacks over the conventional learning system.
Technological advancements are quite favorable inside classrooms. Facilities, such as, projectors, speakers, and Internet access enable teachers to deliver lectures through digital slides and recordings. Furthermore, digitalization has allowed schools to develop online libraries, which can be accessed from anywhere. Adding to this, students can now make digital notes on their respective devices which is quite convenient. These are easy to edit and share. Personally in my class, professors use their ipads to annotate coursebooks and share it on class portal in matter of seconds.
On the other hand, there are several disadvantages. Firstly, Implementing technology in classroom can be very expensive. This implies that only the rich can afford such luxuries. Moreover, easy access to internet distracts students from actual content of the course. For instance, my classmates frequently use social media apps in the midst of important lectures; This results in them failing the exams. Lastly, use of technology in class is not always reliable. Digital PDFs and notes can get corrupted, and devices may malfunction at times. This is why most schools pay for IT departments to deal with such issues, which can bring an added cost.
Modernization in classrooms is being adapted worldwide which exponential advancement in tech industry. Institutions comes up with creative ideas to implement changes, yet there are always some drawbacks which we have to deal with.
