People in modern society are more self-centered and egoistic than in the past. Some individuals believe conventional views and values to be crucial in any community to elevate the world to the next level. In my opinion, those societal changes have positive implications on our world in terms of individual holistic development. Moreover, Earth’s development is contingent on individual improvements and being selfish can positively affect the world.
First and foremost, by rejecting traditional views and conventional social norms , people can focus more deeply on interpersonal development and build their own values. In the community, people often follow particular rules and beliefs without critically considering alternative perspectives. As a result, people end up being unremarkable individuals bound by imposed and flawed stereotypes. For example, the majority of elderly in my country still believe that women do not have rights and it is their obligation to be obedient housewives because of the negative influence made by their local communities in the past.
Essay’s other statement would be the fact that regardless of one social circle’s high level of development, insufficient personal development, new ideas and creativity can stop the world’s development. Currently, people look at selfishness from a completely different perspective. It has been shown that self-centered individuals are more likely to invest in themselves. Thus, they dedicate more time and resources for self-improvement and development, which fosters creativity and the generation of new ideas. This realization helped more than 3% of the world’s population to become successful ,wealthy and contribute to the world’s improvement.
To sum up, by rejecting traditional views and revealing their own values, individuals can not only gain more knowledge and develop holistically but also contribute to the world’s progress by investing in themselves and being selfish.
