People should be discouraged from giving presents because they most likely spend their money on the wrong things. This essay disagrees with this statement because presents can be a symbol of affection and receiving gifts will be a precious experience.
Firstly, offering a present is a way to express affection. Although it could be argued that choosing the right things as a gift is tough, a person who received the thing will be moved by the intention of the giver. To illustrate, when there are special events like birthdays or anniversaries, offering a present is mandatory to celebrate this occasion. As a result, they would rather get things they do not like on their special day than receive nothing at all because they can feel disappointed as well as neglected.
Secondly, a present will bring joy either to the givers or the receivers because it is usually wrapped in paper so an individual is most likely curious about the stuff that they will get. For instance, parents will prepare a present for their children to celebrate their birthday. Furthermore, not only the children who really want to know about their gift but also the parents can feel impatient to see how their children will react to it. Consequently, the moment when the children open their presents will be an exciting experience their presents as well.
To conclude, although choosing the gift to be offered might be risky, people are more focused on the willingness to give rather than the gift itself. In addition, the experience of giving something to someone special is very heartwarming. Therefore, I disagree with the idea of not giving gifts.
