It is discussed that public transportation and cars out to be restricted from the central city and people should only be using bicycles instead. I personally disagree with the statement because there are so many people who cannot ride a bicycles but require transportation and public transport including basses, trains and cars saves time in the city.
First of all, not everyone can ride a bicycle but so many people require some sort of ways to get from one side of the city to the other. Public transportations such as busses and trains carries those who cannot ride a bicycles from one destination to the other. Elderlies and parents with young children for example, cannot ride a bicycles but they usually require support to move around the city. Without a car or public transport, it would be difficult for them to live in the center of cities.
Secondly, public transport and cars saves more time compared to the use of bicycles only. Even the fact that riding bicycles is healthier choice, people working in the city usually are eager to save their time and cars and public busses and trains can be faster depends on the place. Tokyo, which is one of the biggest city in the world, for example, has both rent bicycle systems and public transport including trains, busses, and taxi. This combination system support workers and students to save their transit time. People in Tokyo usually use trains and busses from one side to the other side of the city and then use scooter or bicycles to get through alleys to save the time and spend more time with their friends, family or work.
In conclusion, even though riding bicycles provide positive health feedback, restricting all public transport and cars from the city centers has more disadvantages to those who cannot ride bicycles but require transportations. The combination use of bicycles and public transportation would make the life of workers and residents more productive.
