The possibility of senior citizens’ contribution to the society as an active part of the workforce has been of interest of public discussion. While some argue that senior labor might lack in efficiency, I strongly believe that utilizing this particular workforce can greatly elevate personal wellbeing and financial independence for the elder workers.
In the matter of personal wellbeing, one needs to look into its significant effects on physical health. It is evident that by working accordingly to one’s own ability, senior citizens are more likely to attain healthy physique, gaining physical strength and immunity to health conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol level, which are primarily the results of lack of active exercises. Additionally, keeping an active lifestyle through labor could also immensely benefit elder individuals in terms of mental wellbeing, as of its effectiveness in addressing isolation and loneliness – primary causes of depression among the senior population.
To add further credence to my assertion, undoubtedly, working despite one’s old age could be incredibly beneficial for the elders on the account of financial independence. The lack of proper insurance plan leading to a large proportion of the senior population having to rely on their off-springs for financial supports. This could not only deal detrimental impacts on both parties’ financial stability, but also result in prohibitive monetary dependence of the elderly on their children. However, monthly income provided by engaging in labor can separate senior citizens from being financially reliant, giving the elder an opportunity to pursuit personal liberty with their own money without being influenced.
In conclusion, I firmly hold the viewpoint that taking advantage of the elder workforce can be extremely beneficial as of their positive impacts on wellbeing and financial situation.
