On the one hand, the only reason standing behind my agreement is that people would have a good well-being. It is not a secret that having fewer working days in a week allows people to spend quality time with their close ones, such as family members or friends, and if provided with enough free time, they may travel with their family, which, in turn, helps a person to improve family harmony. Besides that, there are a lot of individuals around the globe who work a lot and have less time to spend on their hobbies, instead of this they prefer to have a rest and recharge their batteries for the upcoming working days. Shortening the working days not only gives people a chance to pursue their hobbies, but also it can reduce the level of burnout and stress, which conduces to better mental health as well as increased productivity.
On the other hand, some people can be demotivated if they have fewer working hours. For example, nowadays, people work in order to cover their needs, and if they work a lot, it means that they would earn more when compared to their colleagues. So, if they work less, but still earn a decent amount of money monthly or yearly, they would lose their motivation to work hard. In addition to this, the government can also be affected by this, for instance, there are certain professions, namely doctors and police officers, who are required to work for longer hours. To cover the amount of time, which one person may spend in a week, additional staff need to be recruited, increasing costs for the government.
In conclusion, while the idea of having fewer working hours and longer weekends may offer some benefits, the potential drawbacks should not be overlooked either.
