Band 5+: It is common nowadays for each member of the family to have their own piece of modern technology. Some people think this will lead to a break down in family relationships and communication. To what extent do you agree?

In present time, each member of a family owning at least one sort of novel technology, which believed by some people that it will bring indifference into a family. Undoubtedly, the advancement of technology lets us can contact others easier, but I still partly agree that this achievement would make relationship between each family member more distant than past.

It is noticeable that modern technology shortens the distance between family members, especially from contacting and updating sites. First and foremost, contacting site, advanced mobile network and devices letting individuals can call the members living with easier than before because of the decrease in expenditure of having technical devices, the rise in connection stability, and the acceleration of transmission speed. Also, advancement of network and electric gadgets allows people can contact their families with less telecom bill and longer duration. From updating aspect, a person can update the status of the member living together without meeting that individual in person resulted by the innovation of software offers various interfaces and platforms to bundle everyone together. Taking an app named Line as an example, this app allows people to chat without any extra charge of phone bill in illimited mobile data offered countries by allowing everyone communicate with text and phone call just through internet.

However, advanced electric device does weaken the relationship and connection of family members. For relationship, the invention of smart phone not only shorten the distance between relatives, but increase the addicted rate of internet for individuals, which might lead into people tend to keep searching viral and interesting materials on internet. For instance, addiction of smart phone causes a person spending more time for streaming, watching videos, scrolling social media websites than family. For connection, the more attention attracted by flow of internet creates larger gaps between relatives. Nowadays, each child has a phone given by their parents for safety reason, but most of children tend to let their friends from internet occupy their sights instead of their parents.

In conclusion, I partly believe that novel gadget expands the gap within family, but it also depends on what extent of people relying on it.
