Band 5+: It is generally agreed that fewer people today write letters compared with the twentieth century. What factors have led to this situation? What will the impact be on the lives of future generations?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

The disappearance of writing letters is certainly a topical issue, as so many people prefer the other ways today. This pattern is resulted from a number of factors and there are some key impacts on youngsters’ future way of living which will be outlined in this essay.

Perhaps the major cause of this problem is the introduction of the modern forms of having distant communications. That includes digital devices, such as mobile phones, which often considered easier to use in comparison with sending posts. Their are simple usage probably because of their portability and availability, especially, in case of urgent situations. For example, a person who is seriously injured all of a sudden can text or call to his distant relatives in no time in order to obtain a help. Another reason hindering this process would be the complexity of exchanging ideas through posts or mails. As it is known, to make someone aware of a specific event individuals should go through many steps starting from writing his thoughts on a piece of paper and ending with a long anticipation of an answer letter. Therefore, post and mails are already accepted as an old-fashioned things when people of new era possess simpler contemporary tools.

Turning to its possible effects, this alteration seems to bring some benefits to the lifestyle of the posterity. First of all, studies point out that minors will entirely dispose of such time-consuming activity in the long run. If supplementary ways of exchanging letters did not exist and people continue spending a significant amount of time writing them, then we would not see fast enhancements in every aspect of our life as today. Even more developed future obviously would not let such outdated things into their fast paced community. Next, the new chatting apps like ‎WhatsApp, Telegram encourage technicians to upgrade them further and, as a result, their country will be technically well-improved giving them more opportunities and convenience.

To sum up, current advancements in a way of having online conversations and the difficulties coming from writing letters are the key causes behind this trend. The positive effects are felt in terms of saving time and the further inspiration.
