Individuals concentrate more and more on health. Public funding should be spent to encourage people to have a healthy lifestyle that helps people prevent illness. This purpose is better than spending to treat patients. In my opinion, I hold a neutral attitude toward these two viewpoints.
On the one hand, one of the biggest benefits of public money for a healthy lifestyle is that it helps people reduce the proportion of diseases. This is explained by the fact that governments can organize campaigns about the importance of a healthy lifestyle. For example, they organize small football leagues or free annual health examinations. Besides, in my country, the government grants for pre-schools to provide free fresh milk for students. When individuals have a healthy lifestyle, they will avoid the majority of diseases. Another benefit is that patients receive better treatment from doctors and nurses. Specifically, if dwellers have less diseases, they will barely go to the hospital. It reduces the pressure on the hospital. Therefore, doctors and nurses can provide better treatment for patients.
On the other hand, funding money for treating ill individuals brings enormous benefits. Funding money helps reduce the proportion of deaths. To be more specific, hospitals can use public money to purchase and equip modern machines. Furthermore, this funding can be used to send doctors to study in developed countries. It will enhance the skills and knowledge of doctors. Therefore, patients have more hope of life when they face heavy illnesses.
In conclusion, public funding for encouraging people to have a healthy lifestyle brings a lot of benefits like reducing the proportion of human disease and providing better treatment for patients. However, I firmly believe that people and patients also receive positive aspects like reducing the proportion of human death if this funding is spent for treatment.
