There is a view that today’s conversation between family members is less than historical times. Here “Communication” refers to the way of people exchange ideas with verbally. I firmly agree with the notion that conversation of family members is less than past with many notable reasons such as addition to digital technology, higher emigrate rate, and busy personal and professional lives many led. In this essay, I will discuss the facts that contribute to reduced communication among family members.
One major reason for decline in the communication among family members is the addition to digital technology, a widespread issue still lacks a suitable solution. Children even those from nursery school and adults- including even those over 90 frequently and willingly embrace digital technology without any obstacles. Research conducted by the CWDFM institute in Austria in 2010 found that approximately 98 % of people addicted to digital technology gradually distance themselves from conversations with family and relatives. Currently, especially in Europe countries, government counselors are conducting conversation lessons for school children and parents. Based on this evidence, it can be concluded that family conversations have significantly decreased today.
Another significant fact influences less communication between family members is, the higher emigration rate worldwide. There are many social, education, and economic reasons for higher emigration in today’s society. For instance, many parents and children work or study in abroad and they are geographically dispersed. Consequently, compared to historical times today’s families have fewer opportunities for regular conversations with their loved ones. This reason confirms that it is reasonable to agree in current families have less conversations rather than past.
Additionally, people’s busy personal and professional lives led to awakened communication among family members. For example, parents and children spend upwards of twelve hours away from home. Most people spend time in a workplace, at schools or by using public transport. This highlights how such circumstances contribute to decline communication between family members.
