A car, a TV and a fridge are all necessities for daily life in terms of transportations, entertainment and longtime storage of perishable food in the 21st century. This trend leads me to disagree that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages of all individuals on the planet obtaining all three of them
All individuals on the planet owning a car, a TV and a fridge will lead to excess production than needed resulting in excess pollutions and waste of resources. As a fridge always has enough storage capacity for the food storage needs for several people in the households, this allows the fridge to be shared among the family members instead of being individually owned. A TV is usually watched by several family members at the same time for family activities and strengthening family relationships which makes owning by the individuals pointless. A car similarly can be shared by family members for scheduled trips to reduce carbon emissions as individuals will only use the vehicle for a very short period of time in the day. The privately owned of the households’ necessities will result in excess outputs of household’s appliances than demanded; this will result in waste and depletion of non-renewable resources and cause extra pollutions in both production and usage of them as they can be shared instead.
However, if all the three necessities are owned individually by everyone on the planet, their living standards will increase dramatically with more convenient daily life. A privately owned car will enable more flexible and easier transportation compared to public transportation or a shared car in the family. An individual car enables people to customize their optimum pathway to their destination instead of compensating for the trips of other people sharing the same vehicle. This will reduce the time spent on transportations, enabling more time spent on leisure activities and increasing the living standards, therefore.
Moreover, owning the three necessities privately will create more personal space to improve privacy of individuals. Owning a private car enables daily transportation to be less transparent to other members of the family or to the public while creating more private space and time during travelling every day. Having a private TV allows individuals to enjoy entertainments of their own interests instead of sacrificing for the other family members’ interests especially when some shows or movies are designed to be watched individually.
