Learning language is an integral part of lives, without it communication is impossible. Residing in a state where you have to command on additional language, creating critical societal and practical challenges. I completely agree with the above assertion because it hinders people social growth, and sparks disparities.
One of the primary disadvantages is that it curbs social development. Non-native speakers often find it difficult to engage in communication with others owing to language impediment, restricting them to strengthen their social relationships with other community members. Due to this limitation, they are more likely to feel lonely and exclusion and in severe cases it leads to depression.
Another notable drawback of having command on alternative language it sparks disparities among employees. Multilingual persons are the priority for many standardized companies, while bilingual workers have been often ignored by them, resulting in discrimination and stigmatization. Moreover, they might be perceived that they are less competent or less intelligent which can further exacerbate instability. For instance, in the UK, the government offers job visa to international workers who can speak English over those who do not. Therefore, it is evident that it is the bone of contention of instability among workforce.
In contrast, it is understandable why a significant number of people coincide with this idea that alternative language promotes personal and professional development. It can be done by opening the door of countless job opportunities that allows individuals to get their desire jobs. Additionally, it helps people to boost their confidence when they speak fluently with natives.
