There is a view that living in big cities is bad for people’s health. I totally agree with this view, since air pollution and noise pollution, which is harmful to people’s health, are at high levels in urban areas.
One primary reason why living in large cities is bad for people’s health is the increased level of air pollution. Most urban areas these days are home to a significant number of factories and other industrial centers. Although some of them use ecofriendly production, other industries prefer the traditional method of using fossil fuels. By using this method, factories emit a considerable amount of greenhouse gases, which is harmful to human health. If people live in cities breathing poisoned air, they may gradually face serious respiratory illnesses, such as asthma and lung cancer.
Another pivotal factor is noise pollution. These days, noise pollution is a common issue in many cities, as the number of vehicles in urban areas is increasing day by day. Every transport mode, whether it is personal or public, generates significant noise pollution when it is on. In addition, during peak hours, the increased number of personal vehicles of city residents results in traffic jams. In such situations, almost any person is frustrated after a long day and honks. By doing this, he thinks that other people will make way for him or her, so that he or she can escape the traffic jam more quickly. However, that is not always the case. As a result of these two factors, there is an increased noise pollution in most cities, which are primary causes of disorders such as tinnitus and sleep deprivation.
In conclusion, I fully agree with the view that living in megapolises is bad for people’s health, since there is a high risk of getting respiratory issues and the other aforementioned health disorders.
