We are living in a fast-paced world where technologies have become increasingly prevalent. In this regard, it is said that people are being replaced by automachines in terms of occupation that once was accomplished by individuals. There are several benefits and drawbacks that may arise as a consequence.
There are two fundamental merits of the replacement of people with machines. First and foremost, advanced technologies save time and they are more efficient while performing. This is because machines are made with complex designs which enables them to implement their work fast and efficiently. For instance, a machine can produce 100 copies of a product within an hour whereas a human can make only one, meaning that a company with these machines will benefit from the productivity which leads to the vibrant economy. Additionally, they are cost-effective. Apparently, robots don’t require salaries as people who are employed by some organisations, admittedly, there can be expenses for the maintenance of these robots but not as much as people’s wages. This can result in the development of other areas of the company.
Although the above notions may seem credible, there are several equally important disadvantages. Firstly, overdependence on technological advances may induce an increased unemployment rate. Apparently, more and more factory employers purchase these devices and fire their employees and leave them without a job. This, as a result, could lead to the violation of laws and an increase in the number of criminals as people are left with no money. Furthermore, there are some jobs that require human intervention where robots can be useless to some extent. For example teaching children in kindergarten if robots were to teach young children, they would lack creativity. This is because machines do the tasks as they are instructed but while the educating young generation teachers should be creative and interactive since young individuals need to develop their creativity and have more face- to-face interaction.
In conclusion, while the developed machinery can enhance productivity and the efficiency of the work as well as spare money for the other improvements, it can bring about high unemployment rates and negative impact on children’s life.
