Some people think that the children have stopped reading books and now spend their time using digital technology. While some view this as a beneficial development, others see it as a concern. As far as I know, reading books brings more benefits to children, for the reasons provided below.
Many people believe that it is better for children to use modern technology rather than read books. The idea is that these children can develop different skills by using technologies such as playing games, learning new information and increasing problem solving ability. However, this is not a completely valid point. For example, children can become overly dependent on digital devices, leading to reduced concentration and lack of deep thinking skills. Moreover, long term using screen devices may negatively affect their health, causing eye problems and sleep disturbances.
Another popular perspective on the issue is that reading books improves children’s language skills and enhances their creativity. Basically, books encourage deep thinking, expand vocabulary and stronger communication and writing skills which helps in the future. I completely agree with this stance as I believe that a child who regularly reads literature or educational books encounters new words and improves their ability to articulate thoughts in both speaking and writing. These skills can also benefit them in their future careers such as law, journalism or business where communication is crucial for success.
All in all, although some argue that children should use digital technology instead of reading books, I believe that reading brings more long-term benefits, especially in future job and social situations.
