Some places are substituting traditional public libraries with digital only access centers. The reason for this shift is probably because of how advanced and convenient technology has become nowadays. I think it is both negative and positive development but i believe the drawbacks of this change outweigh the benefits.
On the one hand, digital books could be very convenient, since you dont have to carry and search for the books. People can easily search and find for the type of book they want within a second. Nowadays, everything has become online which saves so much time for the readers, and it is also cheaper than the real paper books. In addition, people dont have to worry about losing the track of what they were reading because in computers there are already automatic bookmarks and it is easy to comeback and continue where you left off.
On the other hand, while the digital access to books may saves your time but it might cause some serious health issues in the future. Reading something can be very addictive for the book lovers and they may spend too much time on the computers which may cause eye problems and also back pain because of how long readers would have to sit there. Secondly, most of the people who loves reading usually likes to visit the libraries in person and like the feeling of flipping through the pages of real hard copy books which digital computers can’t do.
In conclusion, digital books may be very beneficial for some by saving time and providing easy access to books but it might also cause some health problems for the readers.
