In contemporary society, sponsoring sports has become an increasingly common way for companies to promote their brands. While some believe that these activities can bring numerous benefits for athletes, others, in contrast, think it has several detrimental impacts. In my opinion, I firmly believe that receiving the revenue from sponsoring is a great way for their facilities; however, the athletes will suffer from pressure when they are in competition.
On the one hand, it is noticeable that the benefits of sponsorship are stable financial earnings and improved attraction on two sides. When they sign a big contract that involves a handsome amount of money, they will practice as well as hit a book to adopt the terms of this contract. If they cannot meet the requirement of it, they have to compensate according to the previous agreements. Nowadays, various companies will sponsor many big events or competitions like the World Cup because of the rising prestige of these companies and the acquisition of numerous benefits such as the pervasive presence of corporations in large commercials on the main road of the city. In other words, sponsoring facilitates advertising and attracting more people to both the products of companies and the members of this football team.
On the other hand, the underlying disadvantages of sponsorship are the adverse commercial impacts and the feeling of pressure. Several enterprises prioritize the benefit of commercials more than that of sports. They can allocate the tons of their budget to demand special privilege or make difficult requests for the sports company. Additionally, the high expectations from sponsors can place immense psychological pressure on athletes, affecting their mental well-being and performance. Consequently, this commercial influence can overshadow the primary purpose of sports, which is to promote fair play and athletic excellence.
In conclusion, due to the drawbacks of commercialism and pressure, sponsorship certainly brings vast benefits for sports. However, I do believe that balancing between the appropriate requests and budget are the best way to return the first purpose of sports
