There is an accelerating increase in the funds in sports and arts in many nations. While some people contend that this is unnecessary and that resources could better be spent on healthcare services and educational system. I partially disagree with this statement as investing in sports and arts foster creativity of humans as well as promoting well-being and the nation’s pride, which are crucial elements for a balanced society.
On the one hand, there are a host of reasons why I am convinced by the opinion that such national budget could be better spent on other alternatives such as health and education. One possible explanation is the fact that life expectancy in some countries including Africa and India has reduced over the past few decades, therefore, these regions cannot afford better sports equipment and artworks or masterpieces compared to wealthy ones. Also, the number of children who cannot have access to schools is still on a rise, in other words, spending money on sports and arts is not a feasible solution to improve the quality of life of locals. Therefore, I strongly believe that they had better priortize academic institutions establishment and healthcare system rather than pouring money into entertainment fields.
On the other hand, it is undeniable that sports and arts still hold great importance to the whole nation’s economy and reputation. First and foremost, since more and more individuals take sports seriously and they pursue it enthusiastically, allocating financial resources to this field will help the nation be able to identify and cultivate talented individuals who can bring international prizes. When such people gain victories, the whole reputation of that nation is enhanced, which can stimulate the tourism sector and help citizens earn a living. For example, hosting major sporting events, such as Olympics or the World Cup can generate significant revenue and attract tourists, creating occupations for locals and helping them earn a living.
In conclusion, due to the aforementioned arguments, although I acknowledge that some developed nations place emphasis on arts and sports to build up a more cilvilized society; I would contend that for impoverished countries, they should take the paramount goals of education and health into account so that they can reduce the illiteracy rate among people and ensure a sustainable community.
