Over the last few years, several countries have been trying to attract more tourists so as to improve their economic conditions by creating workplaces for their dwellers. Although this can be beneficial as they can improve their economic conditions by creating workplaces for their dwellers, drawbacks related to environmental issues and erosion of host nations should also be taken into account.
On the one hand, tourism seems to be extremely advantageous for the country. Having a large number of tourists, the government can have a big profit. Since people visit other countries, they first of all go to see sightseeing, and there is an entrance fee to those places. As a result of being interested in those sites coupled with souvenirs, tourists spend money and trade, which is positive for coffers. Moreover, it also merits fighting unemployment. When in a county there are a lot of visitors, having people to serve them is necessary. As a consequence, a number of employees will proportionally raise the benefiting economy. Due to these facts, tourism has a lot of positive respects.
On the other hand, improving tourism may have some downsides as having a lot of visitors may cause pollution. That is, in order to serve tourists, many companies will produce more products. Consequently, the amount of useless plastic will increase, and authorities may face plastic pollution. Take Rome as an example. According to statistics, the number of visitors to the capital of Italy is increasing by 59897 people every year. However, the pollution of that city is proportionally raised with the number of tourists. If the income of the government was based on other areas, they would avoid these problems. Therefore, disadvantages of embracing tourism are also significant.
To conclude, despite the fact that attracting tourists may boost countries coffers, this may have negative aspects, such as deterioration of the environment, tha should not be overlooked.
