Band 5+: Many crimes are committed by people who have already been in prison once. What are the reasons for this? What solutions can you suggest?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

While crime rate rises anually, the number of lawbreakers and recidivisim increases proportionally. Despite government’s influence on the justice system, repeat offenders still exist. It can be the consequence of strict prison conditions or the low level of life after rehabilation. Therefore, focusing on developing lenient treatment for first-time offenders and creating social funds for restored prisoners can solve the problem.

Nowadays, unacceptable conditions in prisons are advocated as harsh penalty for lawbreakers. Nevertheless, the idea of strictness is the main reason in repeated law breaking from the individuals. In this case, penal institution becomes the place that only rises the cruelty inside of the person. In addition, the life after the penalty is ruined. Ex-prisoners cant find a work and loses the right for acceptable life. Consequently, individuals possess the criminal life due to social borders that they have.

Firstly, to solve the existing problem governments should reform the correctional facility. Definetely, it can not look like luxurious hotels ,but conditions must have definite standard. The budget needs to be allocated to projects that advocate the rights of prisoners and provide jail rechecking. Secondly, the same social projects must provide aid in terms of work and facilities to released individuals. All of this steps are vital to protect offenders from recidivism.

Ultimately, society have to understand that regardless of person’s past people must still have their innate rights. Furthermore, factors like harsh conditions and impossible social adptation only increases recidivists among the society. That is why reforms have to be implemented immedietly so that society can be secure in own safety.
