It is believed that various cultural heritage and old social norms have become obsolete in the digital age. I partially agree with this statement because some traditions should be preserved as an important part of national identity. However, several conventional practices should be streamlined.
One reason I agree with maintaining local customs is that authentic cuisine reflects a country’s cultural identity. For example, Thai curries are flavourful dishes that are popular among people around the world who have visited Thailand. This is because our ancestors developed methods of selecting ingredients and recorded these recipes in traditional textbooks. This tradition should be conserved because it is a valuable gift from our ancestors and provides information about our civilization and history. In addition, many young people nowadays prefer fast food because they do not have time to cook. As a result, if traditional food is ignored, an important part of national identity may be lost.
On the other hand, some conventional practices should be reduced. For instance, a strict seniority system still exists in many workplaces. This system can limit creativity and discourage young employees from sharing innovative ideas. Moreover, people today place greater importance on equality and freedom of speech. Therefore, if organizations continue to maintain this system, they may face a high staff turnover rate and become less competitive.
In conclusion, I partially agree that some customs should remain while others should be streamlined.
