Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 6+: many elder people are no longer looked after by their families but are put in care homes or nursing homes. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this trend?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

A number of families across the globe do not look after the adult individuals for a long time, although they send them into care homes or nursing homes. This essay will discuss the main benefits of this trend, which are that elderly people will properly get medical treatments and that it reduces family expenses. This essay will also discuss the major downsides of this phenomenon: the adult public will feel mentally stressed, and future generations will have a tendency to send their parents into care homes.

The main two advantages are that elderly people get fitting medical treatments, and this trend helps to mitigate family money crises. Most nursing homes have some facilities; among them, medical facilities are provided by the owners of these institutions; hence, elderly people get this opportunity. Furthermore, in middle-class families, there are a lot of barriers as regards to money, as they do not have adequate wages to carry their entire family, so putting elderly people in caring homes helps them to save money because older people have a number of demands. For example, the Bangladeshi public puts in adult members for nursing homes, as it assists them in reducing expensive issues. As a consequence, this trend supports reducing substantial costs and getting treatments.

On the other hand, the major drawbacks are that older people suffer from mental diseases, and our coming generations learn negative thoughts. When adult individuals are sent to nursing homes, they believe that no one loves them. As a result, they are affected by some mental illnesses. Moreover, this trend has a negative impact on future generations since a child learns from their parents, so it will have a bad impact on upcoming generations. To illustrate, in Sri Lanka, when children grow up, they send their parents to nursing homes, even though they have affluent money to look after their parents.

In conclusion, many people do not look after their parents when they are getting older, and they send them to care homes. Despite the fact that it helps to get suitable medical facilities and reduce extra pressure for family expenses, this trend carries mental stress for elderly people and negatively impacts upcoming generations.
