It is becoming increasingly common for employees to work remotely instead of attending a conventional workplace. While some people see this as a positive development, I believe it is largely negative due to several compelling factors.
A considerable number of people argue that this is a positive development because of comfort and freedom. This is mainly due to the fact that working remotely offers more convenience and provides more opportunities to manage time effectively, rather than spending time to commuting to the workplace. For example, most employees often struggle with commuting, which is mainly caused by a weak public transport system. Consequently, because of these certain factors, the trend may seem beneficial.
However, I believe this is actually a negative development. The main reason is that most employees may develop poor work habits, which is mainly cause by a lack of discipline. This means that most employees who work online seem to be lazy during their assignment or work, which later affects their work efficiency. For instance, research conducted by Harvard University in 2022 suggests that remote work may reduce productivity in some cases due to lower supervision. As a result, the disadvantages of this shift are more substantial.
In conclusion, while there are some benefits such a greater convenience or flexibility, the drawbacks like reduced self-discipline are more serious, so it should be considered a negative trend.
