Many governments believe that growing their economy is their main goal that they want to achieve. On the other hand, some people argue that other aspects are also equally important to a country. In this essay, I will discuss both views: why governments think economic growth is their main goal and why others say that other issues are also important for countries. Lastly, I will give my opinion on this statement.
To begin with, many governments think that boosting a country’s economy is their main goal because the economy is the backbone of a country. Without a strong economy, a country cannot develop. For example, many countries in South Africa have struggling economies; as a result, these countries face many problems like unemployment and a lack of big businesses. This often indicates bad governance, which is why many governments try to improve their economies.
Secondly, it is also very important to work on other sectors such as developing infrastructure and roads, which lead to national improvement. For instance, if a country is underdeveloped and does not have enough jobs or good roads, how can it grow its economy? That is why it is also considered important to focus on other factors.
In my view, focusing only on boosting the economy is not beneficial for a country because other factors also contribute to development.
