It is widely believed that the use of drugs is prohibited all over the world. However, it is only applied to the usage of hard drugs, namely, heroin and cocaine. For tobacco and alcohol, governments have not banned them as part of drugs too. This essay will argue that tobacco and alcohol should be banned by the governments for the reasons of health and addictive effects.
One reason is about health. It is widely accepted that the use of tobacco and alcohol in a long time will cause health problems to the users. People who smoke a lot would have a tendency of perspiration diseases such as asthma or lung cancer. It is likely that at the first time, people deny about the effect of the smoking and drinking activities, but in the long period, it will result in the body immune.
Furthermore, the activity of smoking and drinking is contagious for the users, thus, it will give the effect of addiction. If people get addicted from doing these activities, they do not have an intention to stop them although they sometimes know the effects. Besides, some people even do everything to get what they want. For example, some people prefer buying cigarettes to having meals, so that, they can still smoke although they have to skip their food.
In conclusion, I believe that governments should also stop the sale and use of tobacco and alcohol because they have negative effects on the people’s health and make people addicted to those drugs.
