Nowadays, many of the products we consume, such as sweets and cold drinks contain enormous proportions of sugar which are harmful to human health. In my opinion, raising the prices would not contribute to limit their consumption because people have adopted them as lively necessities. Although making them expensive might result in a little control.
Considering the human history, sapiens have greeted their guests with some special deserts or drinks which were usually sweeter in tastes because it was considered to be a happy welcome. For instance, whenever a relative came in their homes during the Mughal era they were served sweet drinks, even today this tradition is being followed by a lot of south Asians, such as Pakistani, Indians, and Bangladeshi. In addition to this, in today’s time, markets are filled enormously with plenty of sugar rich products, such as cold drinks like Coca-Cola and Pepsi, and different variety of chocolates. Most importantly, when eating it releases happy hormones, hence leading people to addictiveness because they strive to consume more and more, which definitely harmful for individual’s health and also causing wastage of money
On the other hand, society is now considering ways to bring down the use of these unhealthy foods and drinks in the shops through methods, such as increasing the sale price. For example, in many parts of the world, such as Pakistan the prices of smoking products are increased in order to restrict the use of those specifics. Unfortunately, this action did not work well, and people still used the products the same way as before because of their addiction. In my perspective, there should be new stricter laws and regulations for industries to limit the percentage of sugar in their goods, so it does not affect health. If companies follow these rule, there would not be any health issue in the future.
In conclusion, people have adopted sweet drinks and deserts in their routine lives which is causing health issues. However, raising prices will not result in a desirable outcome to limit them in the market or bringing down the sugar levels. In my opinion, there should be new laws to regulate to companies to restrict them to not pour extra sugar.
