Inadequate sugar consumption is a problem as many industrial produced food and rampant use of artificial sweeteners results in damage of health. Some believe that goods added with sucrose should be priced higher so that sugar consumption gets controlled. However, this is not appropriate method and it is not convincing for everyone.

On one hand, sugary products are easily accessible energy refueling sources for working individuals. Continuous working leads to exhaustion condition of body which tends to search for easily available source. At this time, goods loaded with artificial sweeteners such as chocolates, beverages and many more acts as the first preference by consumers. For instance, revenue of many beverage companies are higher in working class area. So, I think it does not make any sense that by increasing the prices of sugary products have effect on sugar consumption.

On the other hand, in my opinion, hiking the product prices will not convincing for everyone. By implementing a proper rules and regulation in manufacturing segment, effective against controlling sugar consumption. For example, government sets a rule and regulation on beverage manufacturers leads to lower usage of preservatives in colas and sweet products in U.S.A. Gov.

In conclusion, rather than raising prices of goods with sugar, it is more effective to control and regulate the usage of sugar in products.
